Amatic Industries don’t belong to the online slot gaming mainstream, but we did like some of their previous releases enough to recommend them. Given that, we simply had to see what they did with the Book of Admiral slot. Its title sounds appealing, after all, but does this 5×3 slot with 10 paylines deliver in all the important respects?

Thematically, players can set sail to some dangerous waters in Book of Admiral, and the game’s background shows a ship’s deck. That’s fine, but the user interface and the game’s symbols look rather outdated, so we aren’t too thrilled about the overall production values. Book of Admiral looks more like a blast from the past than a modern online slot, which will surely prove to be an issue with many players.

The mathematical model of Book of Admiral comes with a high volatility level and a decent 5,000x jackpot. That’s not bad at all, especially since the betting range is wide enough as well. Book of Admiral Slot Features

There are nine pay symbols in Book of Admiral, with 5 low pays and 4 high pays. The game’s low pays are pretty bland, showing nothing but card ranks from Tens to Aces. The high pays are more thematic, on the other hand, and feature cannons, compasses (or are they just emblems?), ships, and admirals. To get a win, you have to line up 3 or more matching symbols on one of the active paylines.

The Book symbol is the game’s only special symbol and it works as both its Wild and its Scatter. It works as a Wild only in the base game, but it continues to work as a Scatter even during free spins.

To get to free spins, you need to find 3, 4, or 5 Book symbols anywhere in view. This will trigger the Free Spins feature with a set of 10 initial free spins. Before they begin, the game will select one of the pay symbols at random. This symbol will work as a special expanding symbol during the feature. This means that it will be able to expand vertically and even pay out in combinations that aren’t fully adjacent. We’ve all seen this before, so chances are that you already know how things work. The lone twist here is that retriggers are possible and that they always bring one extra expanding symbol to the mix. Retrigger the feature enough times and you can have as many as 9 expanding symbols at once!

Review Summary

In short, Book of Admiral is an average “Book of” slot with unimpressive visuals. It’s not bad, but we aren’t quite sure why exactly anyone would want to play it. We’ve all seen this before and there are plenty of similar – and even better – online slots on the market. Unless you absolutely need to see a “Book of” slot with ships and admirals, you won’t miss out on anything by staying away from this release.
