Blue Oceans Review
EGT has a style you either love, or you don’t. It’s really that simple. They make games for players looking for a nostalgic kick, and Blue Oceans might just provide that to the fanbase. For the regular video slot crowd however, this release will not even be a blip on the radar. Even the title is as generic as it could get, and you have to be a connoisseur to truly appreciate these kinds of games.
The base game is simple enough, as you will only benefit from a wild symbol as you grind along accompanied by the very brick and mortar soundtrack. The wild is also a scatter however, and it can thus help you trigger the bonus round where an extra symbol becomes the expanding wild. High rollers might be pleased by the €1,000 max bet, and the 5,000x potential is decent enough also.

Blue Oceans slot Features
Neptune, the ocean god, is both wild and scatter in this game. This means that he will step in for all regular pay symbols to help you form winning combos. However, land at least 3 wild/scatters on the same spin, and you trigger the bonus round. First however, you will be granted a scatter win of 2x, 20x or 200x, when you land 3, 4 or 5 scatters, respectively.
The bonus round comes with 10 free spins for starters, and a random premium symbol (seahorse, octopus or dolphin) will be chosen up front to serve as an extra wild during the feature. The extra wild does not award scatter wins when it lands, but it does expand to cover the full reel. The regular wild will now generate a 1x win whenever it lands, even if not part of a winning combo.
Finally, you have the Jackpot Cards feature, offering 4 progressive jackpots. The pick’em jackpot game can trigger at any time, and you will then pick from 12 face-down cards. You will pick cards until you’ve matched up 3 of the same suit, and this lands you the corresponding jackpot. The Spades Jackpot is the most valuable, but all 4 jackpots are progressive.
The 200 Spins Blue Oceans slot Experience
After some smaller initial wins, we trigger the bonus round with 3 scatters around 0:32 into the 2-minute highlights video. We got the dolphin as the extra expanding wild, and it landed us a decent payout in the middle of the session. How much we got away with in total however, can be seen only by hitting the play button.
Review Summary
We get that there is a market for EGT style games, but it’s just not this reviewers cup of tea. The dated visual presentation, the confusing stakes and paytable and the brick and mortar soundtrack, it just doesn’t add up to a positive experience in our view. We don’t mean to offend fans of the physical slot machine style, but we have to be honest about our bias.
The extra expanding wild during the bonus round makes this game somewhat akin to the ‘Book slot’ genre, but then again, not quite. This notion is reinforced by the 5,000x your stake potential though, and the £1,000 per spin max bet is certainly solid enough for most high rollers. It all boils down to whether or not you like the old school slot experience, and those who do might find this release interesting.
Pros
- Bonus round w/ extra expanding wild
- Regular wild 1x scatter wins (bonus round)
- Win up to 5,000x your stake
Cons
- Dated style is not for everyone
