Route of Mexico Review
Route Of Mexico adopts a very realistic look, so much so that the background landscape looks almost like a photograph. You can admire the vast arid plains, the mountains in the distance and the iconic cacti framing the reels. The command buttons underneath them have the typical EGT look, with plenty of shortcuts to make your task as a player even easier.
We found Route Of Mexico very pleasant to look at and very realistic as well. The title of the game is a clear giveaway, making it not so much of a surprise. But we can recognise high-quality graphics when we see them, and Route Of Mexico is clearly standing out in that regard. Now let’s move on to try and figure out what the gameplay has to offer.
How to Get Started
Route Of Mexico contains 5 reels and 20 paylines, which you can activate at will by using the tabs on the sides of the reels. The different bet shortcuts at the bottom of the screen are there to let you bet from 20 to 400 credits per turn easily. Route Of Mexico also includes the classic autoplay mode, and a gamble mini game to try and double the value of your latest reward.
As mentioned before, Route Of Mexico has a rather high variance that makes scoring cash prizes a little tougher than usual. The paytable is made up of card icons, various local animals including armadillos and eagles, a beautiful señorita and a local cowboy. Even with the smallest wager, the top prize can go up to 1000 credits. This might sound impressive, but if you do the math you will notice that it only corresponds to 50 times your starting wager, which isn’t that exceptional after all.
Few Free Spins to Grab
To help you score more regular rewards, the EGT developers have added a few surprises on the reels of Route Of Mexico. It all starts with a wild card that can only appear on the 3 central reels. This symbol does not have any value of its own, but it can replace the others and help you out when you most need it.
The red car symbols are scatters, also only available on the middle reels. Finding 3 of them at the same time awards 3 free spins, during which all wilds will be stacked. The extra spin symbols can appear during the free games to make the bonus last a little longer. And finally, Route Of Mexico features 4 different progressive jackpots, as displayed at the top of the screen, ready to fall at any time.
Other Options Available
Route Of Mexico has the same general look as many other EGT games, but it terms of gameplay it is actually quite close to other titles from the Novomatic portfolio. Games such as Reel King Free Spin Frenzy or Mermaid’s Pearl have the same high-variance settings and general layout, but both of them award more free spins than Route Of Mexico does.
If you want to continue your journey a little further, then Viva Mexico by Roundstone is a must-try. Despite a smaller layout, the variance in this game is low and every spin carries a high chance of delivering a cash prize. Scoring big wins is another story, but we can assure you that you are going to love the graphic universe of the game.
Take a Risk and Hope for the Jackpot
Route Of Mexico has a classic EGT look, meaning that it is fast and efficient. The command buttons are plenty and very well labelled, making sure that everyone can get started right away. On the downside, we were surprised at the low number of free spins awarded by the scatters, and the lack of multipliers as well.
In a nutshell, it was our impression that Route Of Mexico was a beginner-friendly slot game thanks to its progressive betting range. The paytable, however, could have been more generous. We will give the game some bonus points for the great graphics and the easy gameplay, which still make it worth a try.
